How Are You?

We ask this simple question every day to almost everyone we meet:

“How are you? How’s it going? What’s new?” My answer is usually the same: I smile and say, “I’m livin’ the dream.” It might sound silly or even shallow at times. Oh, Kelly, can this really be your dream? Can it?

Actually, it is. I grew up in a church tradition where women didn’t serve as lead pastors, didn’t preach sermons, and certainly didn’t talk openly about sex. Now, I’m living a dream I didn’t even know I could dream. This dream is my calling.

It’s not always rainbows and unicorns—though I do love those! Some days are challenging. I recently had someone tell me I was an abomination for being a female pastor. Ministry is not for the faint of heart - but this is my dream because I get to journey with people as they break free from shame and as they move into deeper healing.
I get to collaborate with God to recapture this generation’s attention with a renewed vision for a flourishing life.


Every single day. So yes, I am livin’ the dream.
